From Olympic Dream to World-Class Luxury
The history of Beaver Creek is one of intentional luxury and grand ambition, beginning not as a mining camp but as a dream to host the Winter Olympics. Envisioned by Vail founders Earl Eaton and Pete Seibert, the land was initially designated to host the alpine events of the 1976 Winter Games. Though Colorado voters ultimately rejected the bid, the vision for a world-class resort persisted. Construction finally commenced in the late 1970s, and Beaver Creek officially opened in December 1980.
From its inception, the resort was meticulously designed to evoke the European alpine experience, prioritizing pedestrian villages, seamless transportation, and a level of sophistication unmatched in the Rockies, quickly establishing its reputation as one of North America's premier and most exclusive ski destinations.
